When first thinking about how ethos, pathos, and logos apply to food, I wasn't entirely sure. So here is my effort to connect them:
Ethos is the ability to persuade through the writer's credibility. Persuasion through authority in the food industry comes from producers and companies. When eating, I trust that my food is not contaminated by disease and that it will not expire before the expiration date. I also trust that my food was made by the labeled ingredients and the nutritional values are correct. This trust is a form of ethos through the company's credibility.
Pathos defined is the ability to persuade through emotions. This is a huge part of the food industry. Many times I turn to food for comfort or when I'm bored. Chocolate, mashed potatoes, and toast are my usual comfort foods and many food distributors play on our emotions to persuade us into buying a product.
Logos is persuasion through reasoning using logic. There are many facts about food. For example, we need the vitamins and nutrients in food to perform our best and stay healthy and strong. Food is one of the basics for our survival.

Good job, you connected your concepts very well, and I was able to follow along and agree with all of your points!
Great points. I have never thought about the trust we put in food companies, but we totally do trust them. Perhaps this is a reason why people care so much about brands.
i hadnt really thought about the fact that food needs to have credibility. its just normal for me to not question food but if i went to a foreign country where they dont have as high of standards, i know that i would defiantly question what i was eating.
ahaaa, so an example of someone NOT having ethos would be when my little brother makes "potions" and tries to get the rest of the family to drink them "because they'll make you HAPPY!!" Awesome.
You're entry really flowed from one point to the next, good job! I understood exactly what you were saying about each point.
I haven't given much thought about the trust that we give American food producers because of their ethos, but I agree with Brooke that I have little faith in the ethos of food producers when I'm traveling in a third world country. Great observation!
