Getting on the Same Page... With Food

My mother set the example of eating dinner together every night years ago. At one point in the school year there were six of us playing soccer, three enrolled in piano lessons, and a widespread of elementary kids to highschoolers with homework, friends, and other commitments. Nights were very hectic but we really tried to sit down, eat dinner, and talk together. Reflecting on those times, it was a great opportunity to get on the same page and learn about each other and our various activities. To slow down the speed of life and sit together over homemade meals made a huge difference in relationships in my family and I'm so grateful for that in my life.

That is so awesome of your family to have that goal! It really does help strengthen relationships.

my family also had the tradition of eating together every night. I think it was a great way for us to communicate and come closer together. Every family should have this tradition!

That really is neat that your family was able to do that. My family always tried to do that but we were never able

I think that is so cool that your family would make such an effort to eat together. I think you were able to "get on the same page" not just by reflecting on dinner, but actually by doing it.

This blog reminded me a lot of my family. We all have crazy lives and dinner was always a place to finally sit down and catch up with eachother.

I would actually enjoy sitting down with my family. Now that I look back and am away, I honestly wish I would have done more of that. Thanks for a little sentimentality... is that a word?

I can related so much to your busy schedule! Our family was always going in 12 different directions, but having dinner together really helped us stay knit together as well.
